A **table block** puts a proper table on your page: prices, opening hours, fixtures, results. Type into a grid, paste a range of cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets, or write it as markdown. It takes your page's colours, with a header row and stripes, and scrolls sideways on a narrow phone rather than squashing.

## Before you start

- Pro: tables are one of Pro's page blocks.
- Up to 50 rows and 8 columns per table.

## The steps

::: step Add a Table block
In your page's editor, under **Quick add**, press **Table**. The row opens with **Block** set to *Table* and an empty grid.
:::

::: step Type in the grid, or paste from a spreadsheet
Type into the cells; **Enter** moves down a row. **+ Row** and **+ Column** add more. To bring in a spreadsheet, select the cells in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, copy them, click a cell in the grid and paste: the grid fills from that cell. Tick **First row is the header** for a header row.
:::

*Screen: The table block's grid: a header row, three rows of prices, + Row and + Column, and Edit as markdown.*

::: step Or write it as markdown
Press **Edit as markdown** to see the table as text. Each line is a row, with cells between `|` bars. A line of dashes under the first row, `|---|---|`, makes that row the header. In the dash line, `:-:` centres a column and `--:` right-aligns it, handy for prices. Press **Edit as a grid** to go back.
:::

*Screen: The same table as markdown: the header, a dash line with Serves centred and Price right-aligned, then the rows.*

::: step Style it and save
On the **Style** tab, choose the header colour from your theme and switch stripes on or off. Press **Save**, then drag the table where it belongs, under a heading like *Prices*.
:::

*Screen: The example price list on the page, in the violet look, with its header and stripes.*

## The markdown, in full

```
| Cake            | Serves | Price |
|-----------------|:------:|------:|
| Victoria sponge |   12   |   £30 |
| **Chocolate**   |   16   |   £38 |
```

- Outer bars are optional: `Cake | Serves | Price` is the same row.
- One dash is enough in the dash line, and the spaces are only for your eyes.
- Without a dash line, the table has no header.
- `**bold**` and `*italic*` work inside cells. A real `|` in a cell is written `\|`.
- Short rows are filled with empty cells.

## Check it worked

Open your page on your phone: the table is there in your colours, and swipes sideways if it's wide.

## If something's different

### My paste came in as one long line
Paste into a cell of the grid, not elsewhere on the page. Copy the cells themselves, not a picture or a chart of them.

### It says the table is too big
A table can have 50 rows and 8 columns. Copy a smaller range, or split it into two tables under their own headings.

### A cell shows `\|`
That's how a real bar is written in the markdown; on your page it shows as `|`.

## Do it with your AI

Paste the figures into your AI and ask *"Put this price list on my page as a table under a heading called Prices, prices right-aligned"*. It writes the markdown and shows you the preview.

## Why it's worth it

A price list that people can read on their phone saves you answering the same question twenty times a week, and when prices change you paste the new ones in, without a designer or a PDF.
