A **connection** is two people on exclusively.me agreeing to know each other: a supplier and the café it supplies, a driver and their sponsor, two friends who send each other customers. Once you're connected, you see each other's pages in one list, you can each put the other on your page as a button with their picture on it, and pages kept for connections only open up to you. It's free, and it only lasts while you both want it.

## Before you start

- An exclusively.me account ([claim your name](/guides/claim-your-name)).
- The other person's username or email address. There's no directory of everyone: you find people you already know.

## Why connect

- **Their pages, in one place.** My Connections lists every connection with the pages of theirs you're allowed to see, one click away.
- **Put them on your page** (Pro). A connection's page can go on yours as a button wearing their picture: your flour mill, your sponsor, the venue you play at. See [Show your connections on your page](/guides/link-to-your-connections).
- **Connections-only pages.** Anyone can set a page to *Connections only*: it's kept out of every search, but you can find it and link to it.
- **Nothing public about it.** Nobody else sees who you're connected to.

## The steps

::: step Find them
In your dashboard, open **My Connections**, then **Connection requests**. Under **Find someone**, type their username or their whole email address. Their email is never shown to you, and yours isn't shown to them.
:::

::: step Send a request
Press **Connect** beside their name. The request moves to **Sent**, marked *Pending*, until they answer.
:::

*Screen: Connection requests: someone found with Connect, and a request waiting with Accept and Decline.*

::: step Answer the ones waiting on you
Requests people send you wait under **Waiting on you**, and a dot on **My Connections** tells you there's one. Press **Accept** or **Decline**. Declining isn't final: they can ask again later.
:::

::: step See their pages
Back on the **My Connections** tab, each connection is listed with their pages. A page shows here unless its owner has set it to *Only people with the link*. Search the list by name or email when it grows.
:::

*Screen: My Connections: each connection, with the pages of theirs you can see.*

::: step End a connection whenever you like
Press the remove button at the end of a connection's row and confirm. Either of you can end it, at any time. Anything that depended on it stops at once: their button on your page and yours on theirs disappear, and *Connections only* pages close again. Nothing is deleted, so if you connect again later, it all comes back.
:::

## Check it worked

The person shows on your **My Connections** tab with their pages, and you show on theirs.

## If something's different

### I can't find them
Search needs their exact username or their whole email address, the one they signed up with. Ask them for their username: it's the end of their page's address.

### They say my request never arrived
It waits under their **Connection requests**, and a dot shows on their My Connections tab; there's no email. Check it's still *Pending* under your **Sent**.

### Their page isn't in the list
They've set that page to *Only people with the link*, or switched it off. Only their visible pages are listed.

## Do it with your AI

Connected AIs can read your connections and, with *Read and make changes*, accept a request when you ask: *"Accept Jess's connection request"* ([Connect your AI](/guides/connect-your-ai)).

## Why it's worth it

Local businesses, clubs and creators grow by sending people to each other. Connections make that a button on your page instead of a favour you have to remember, and they end the moment either of you wants them to.
