Join a team

You're in a team guide 1 of 3 Next: What your team can see, and how to change it

Joining a team takes one press: Accept on an invitation, or Ask to join on a join link. You keep your own account and page; the team sees that you're a member and which of its groups you're in, and anything more only if you agree. Once you have a seat, or your own Pro, you can open the team into your member view.

Before you start

  • An exclusively.me account. Free is fine: if you got a join link and have no account yet, claim your name first, then open the link again.
  • If you're under 18, a parent or guardian agrees before you join (Members under 18).

The steps

  1. Accept your invitation

Invitations are emailed to you, and wait in your dashboard under My Connections, then Teams (a dot marks something new). Each one says who invited you, as what, and to which group. Press Accept, or Decline if it isn't for you. If the team asks to show you in its media kit, that's a separate switch, and it's up to you.

My Connections, Teams: an invitation from the team, with Accept and Decline.
  2. Or ask to join with a link

If your team shared a join link, open it while signed in and press Ask to join. If we don't know your date of birth yet, we ask for it here; nobody sees it, the team included. Your request waits under My Connections, Teams, as Waiting for the team to approve, until an admin approves it.

A join link opened while signed in: what the team will see, and Ask to join.
  3. Get your seat

A team gives its members Pro's features through a seat. If you already pay for Pro yourself, you don't need one. Otherwise your team's admins allocate you a seat; until then, your team card says so, and you can upgrade to Pro yourself so you never wait for one.

  4. Open your team

On your team's card under Teams, press Open team, or click your name at the top left of your dashboard and pick the team from the menu; the team's name in the same place takes you back to your own account. Your member view has the team's Message House, Brand Guide and Sponsors, and teammates who show themselves under Members.

Your team card: your status, seat and groups, what the team can see, and Open team.

Check it worked

Click your name at the top left: the menu lists the team. Open it and you see the member view's tabs across the top.

If something's different

My invitation isn't there

Check you're signed in with the account they invited. If they couldn't find you, tell them your username, or ask for the team's join link.

It says Needs a seat

The team hasn't given you a seat yet. Ask an admin, or upgrade to your own Pro.

Will the team see my statistics?

Only if you switch it on. See What your team can see.

Do it with your AI

Joining is yours to do, here. Once you're in, connect your AI (Connect your AI) and it can read your team's message house, brand and sponsors to help you write posts.

Why it's worth it

You keep your own page and your own name, and get your team's guidance in one place: what to say this weekend, which sponsors to tag, and the hashtags to use, ready for your AI.
